These feeders are fully assembled, primed and painted with each compartment holding 1 gallon. This 2 compartment feeder sits on top of the hive boxes, just under the inner cover. Bees access the feeding area through the open slot that runs crossways in the middle. After syrup is poured into the compartments pine slats can be placed on top of the syrup preventing drowning. Seams are cocked to insure it is leak proof.
